In 1996, my exceptionally brave 8th grade Spanish teacher took me and 11 other 8th graders to Spain. That trip changed my life as it is what made me fall in love with Spanish and what led me to teaching. When I became a teacher, my mission was to pass on this opportunity to my students. Building these relationships with students and seeing their eyes light up as they see la Sagrada Familia for the first time, or eat gelato for the 5th time in as many days, reminds me why I do what I do.
